Try as I might, I’m having the hardest time accepting the physical signs of aging. I especially notice these signs when I’m putting my face on every morning because I have to use a magnifying mirror to see. I remember being younger and picking up someones magnifying mirror and wondering how the heck they could see anything when they looked in that kind of mirror, but now if it weren’t for such wonders of mankind I would have painted on grandma lips that go way outside the lines.
A couple of my friends and I have discussed options available for taking a few years off one’s appearance and I’ve started giving it a lot of thought. Average Jane wrote a great piece on Midlife Bloggers about the “B” word and I started to comment but decided I had much more to say than would fit in a comment box, so here I go.
Botox, Restylane, Thermage, mini non-surgical face lifts they all have their own appeal.
I’m accepting of the fact that I will fight the effects of aging kicking and screaming all the way but which procedure do I choose? I’ve tried researching them all but depending on who you talk to, they all work or don’t work. I hate needles so I want something painless. Ha! Don’t we all want to take the easiest route to where we want to be?
Why can’t someone invent a knob that goes on the top of your head and you just give it a twist every time you need to draw up something that is sagging? Only thing is, my eyes would be slanted so far up I’d be mistaken as Asian, and the term “double chin” would take on a whole new meaning when the girls made their way up.
I suppose for now I’ll keep looking in that magnifying mirror and grumbling until I can’t take it any more or until I learn to love what I see looking back. What are your thoughts about dealing with the signs of aging? I’d love it if you’d share your secrets to looking young an youthful. Please? Pretty please??
HAPPY TRAILS, Y’ALL

So many people overdue it here in the OC, they look like freaks. I think plastic surgery when done in moderation and by a good doctor, and TASTEFULLY is probably a godsend. (Haven’t tried it myself -yet). Personally, on all the mini-procedures that don’t last and have to be redone every few months? I’d rather save the money and eventually get my puffy eyelids done or something like that.

If I had the extra cash I would have an eye lift, a breast lift and a tummy tuck immediately.
But unless I win a lottery it isn’t going to happen, so I have to resign myself to the fact that this is how I look.
I don’t like it but there’s nothing I can do so just have to learn how to live with it.

Along with your knot at the back of your head for tightening up the sags, I want to insert a wick somewhere in my ample self, light it, and then watch the tallow melt away.
I could burn for years! And illuminate the entire neighborhood!

I’m right there with you. What helps me most is Shopping. Buying new expensive clothes to look better beats dieting. And buying fancy schmancy makeup to camouflage the age spots, etc. beats plastic surgery (well, for now anyway – though I’d LOVE to get RID of the age spots). Plus what woman doesn’t feel better about herself after an afternoon of people watching at the mall? LOL!

I’m a guy…so I don’t worry about it. But I’m inclined to say that exercise and eating right will probably go a long way. And water…drink lots of water. Oh…and NEVER SMILE AGAIN! It causes forehead wrinkles (that one is advice from my wife…). Botox, boob enhancements, whatever…it’s all a waste of money. You are who you are. There are people in your life who love you for you. Why not leave it at that and just work on making yourself feel healthier?
Just 2 cents from a guy’s perspective anyway…
