We’re leaving on vacation tomorrow(Wednesday) and I thought what better time to post a Money In The Bank post. MITB is the brainchild of my dear bloggy buddy, Smart Mouth Broad. Don’t let her title fool you. She’s very smart, that’s for sure…..and sometimes she’s mouthy…..but she’s definitely not broad.

Now I’m sure you’re asking yourself how a vacation to Hawaii can be a MITB post, right? no? Well, anyway it really is a MITB post because our airline tickets cost us a whopping $20.00. Yep, twenty bucks and that’s only because of the 911 tax they’ve tacked on to all flights. Now I have your attention, right?

It all started in 1969 when HBL walked five miles in the snow to get to school….uhm…er…wrong story. It began in 1989 when HBL applied for an American Express card that earned sky miles. He’s never used any of the miles he’s accumulated during that 20 year period, therefore we are able to fly first class round trip to Kauai for twenty dollars. The way I look at it, it’s like a vacation savings account that accumulated for 20 years. We have a Southwest airlines credit card too and we flew round trip for free to Albuquerque when we went skiing in March. HBL just told me we’d earned another pair of round trip tickets just recently. Woot! We pay most everything on our credit cards and then pay them off each month, and yes I’ve heard a lot of that might be coming to an end, or so they say. If you use credit cards anyway, check around for cards that offer rewards. They really do add up.

We also scoured the Internet and found that our best deal for lodging in Kauai was to rent a condo. Not only will it provide us with a nice place to stay but also a kitchen so we don’t have to eat out every meal, and we’ll have a washer and dryer so we don’t have to take so many clothes. Not that I plan on doing much laundry while on vacation, but just in case. We’ll be right on the beach and it was cheaper than a nice hotel.

With all the projects we’ve got goin on, this will probably be our last vacation for a very long while so we’d better make the best of our time away. I’m taking my laptop but mostly for work *only when absolutely necessary* and I plan on taking a ton of pictures to bore you all with when I return. *stop yawning*

Well, that’s about it for this post but if you find yourself looking for something to do, head on out to Oklahoma. There’s a really large pile of trash that needs carried out. MUAH!!

HAPPY TRAILS, Y’ALL
By the time most of you read this, I’ll be headed to Kauai and I hate to fly so be thinking positive thoughts for me that I don’t freak out over the Pacific ocean. Or better yet…..wish HBL luck.
