Hello? Anyone Still Here?

It’s been a couple of weeks since I’ve posted anything so today we’re just going to play “catch up” on my always on the go but boring life in the turn lane.

10 days old

10 days old

As you can see from my last post, there’s a new sheriff in town and he’s all cute and sweet and adorable and definitely rules the roost.  He was two weeks old on Monday.  In the first 14 days of his life I got the pleasure of keeping him overnight 4 nights.  Not consecutive night….no way.  I need at least SOME sleep or I don’t function.  I finally got back to Texas after two weeks and breathed a huge sigh of relief the second I walked through the front door.  I had really missed HBL and think he might have even missed me a little bit.  *wink*

The guest house project is ongoing and finally in the end stages which results in a lot of frustration because we want it DONE and it’s hard getting the plumber and electrician to have the same sense of urgency.  Maybe this Thursday?  Maybe not.    If they’d just come finish up their part we could install the cabinets that are already built, finish the sheetrock over the places where plumbing and electrical are going, finish the tape/bedding and texturing so I can paint, lay the bathroom floor so we can set the toilet and we’re done.  Oh wait, I forgot I’ve also got to clean up the 5 old school lights that I dug out of storage, so we can use them and hang a couple of ceiling fans…….oh and put in the bathroom vanity/sink……oh dear, I just THOUGHT we were almost finished.  *sigh*

On another note, my allergies are terrible this year.  I’ve had a headache so many days I’ve about forgotten what it feels like to not have one.  At least I hope that’s what is causing the headaches.

I haven’t fought with my Dad in over two weeks.

Girls weekend is coming up and I’m looking forward to spending time with best friends and my bestest of best friends….my sister, who is looking great!  She still lacks some stamina from her two recent surgeries and we’re planning to go to Canton, TX to Trade Days and sift through all the goodies and she’s been worried that she’ll have a hard time with all the walking that will be required.  My friend whom I met through this blog aka MissGuided Texas Fan, and I have assured her we’ll take care of her.  We’ve offered to pull her in a wagon but she told us she didn’t trust us pulling her up and down all the hills.  I told her to trust us, everything would be just fine.  We’d get her a helmet and there’s a beer cooler attached to the wagon so she needn’t worry a bit.  *Trust us, sister….you’re in (cough) good hands*

My heart is so happy to see the father that my 33 year old son has become.  He’s completely and totally in love and devoted to his newborn son.  I never thought I’d see this day when he’d finally be a father and it’s changed his perspectives in so many ways.  He finally understands the depth of love a parent has for a child.  He finally understands how much I’ve loved them (my children) all their lives.  It makes me heart sing and I’m so very thankful.

I love this picture!! He'd had enough pictures for one day.

I’m still holding my breath a bit with the mom of my newest grandchild.  She’s trying her best but she’s so unstable and unsure of herself as a mom that I worry a lot about them all, especially when I’m 300 miles away and can’t drop everything and go help.  My son works long hours but picks up the slack when he gets home so he’s tired all the time too.  I’m thankful they were blessed with a good and sweet baby……..so far.

Stubborn, Sassy, and Sullen Teenager love having their very own real live doll to hold, feed, and fix his hair.  He’s had some very wild hairdo’s in the past two weeks but he tolerates it all very well…..most of the time.

Well, that’s about it for this update.  I have no idea if there’s anyone still out there but just in case there is……I haven’t forgotten you and I promise to check in at your place soon.

* opinion of the author of this post and and I don’t care who thinks otherwise.  *wink*

Kudos and Kismet

I’ve been extremely remiss in acknowledging a couple of very talented people whom I’ve benefited from greatly. It’s time I paid my debts with much well deserved praise and replaced the very gross picture of my sister with something cute.

x

One day I was working on some photos in my beloved Photoshop CS2 program and wanted some new “actions”.  Actions are a series of adjustments you make to a photo to alter the color or look.  People that are much smarter than I, have created actions you can download and with a mere click of a button, you’ve got a photo that looks like it is 100 years old.  Or a photo that pops with vibrant colors.  Or a….well, you get the jest.

x

I’ve got several actions downloaded but I’m always looking for more.  There are tons available online and some are free and some are not free.  Since I’m pretty cheap frugal, I tend to gravitate towards the ones that are free.

x

I sent out a plea on Twitter, asking if anyone had any cool actions they’d like to share and low and behold, I was tweeted back by a very nice young man who offered to share his actions with me.  Not to be confused with sharing some action just so there’s no misunderstanding here.  *wink*

Andrew is a “photoshop genius and a very talented young man.  If you need a Photoshop tutor, Photoshop Artist, Retoucher, or a Print Production Artist and Designer”, then go see Andrew here and if you Twitter then find him here.

Thanks Drew, for sharing a tiny portion of your talent with a very amateur Photoshop genius wannabe…….ME.

Next is someone most of you have already met but since she just finished another project for me, I have to share it here.  Of course I’m talking about Tera of Olive Hue Designs who has created the cutest portrait yet.

x

Originally I thought I’d have Tera create a custom portrait for each of our 13 grandchildren for Christmas, then I started sweating profusely and going into panic mode just thinking about climbing that mountain.  I’m sure Tera was doing the same since she knows what a foot dragger I am and would probably send her all the photos 3 weeks before Christmas.  That’s how I roll……or bump along, most of the time.

x

Fast forward past some foot dragging and I decided to take the pressure off both of us and do the portraits for birthdays instead of Christmas.  Whew….I feel much better now that the pressure is off and I’m sure I’m speaking for Tera here, too.

x

I took this photo and shot it over to Tera with a little background on this granddaughter’s personality and told her to have fun.

emme2

As usual, Tera worked her magic so without further ado, here’s the latest project she’s created for our Emme.

Emme tera

x

Wow!  Didn’t she do a great job?  I’m blown away and so excited to give this to Emme for her birthday in November.  The colors are specifically to match her awesomely decorated room and the lights camera action theme fit her perfectly.

x

Thanks again to Drew and Tera for sharing your talents with me.  You two are AWESOME!

I have no idea why my text colors change from gray to black to gray.  grrrrrrrrrrr…..
